What is an Interior Design Consultation?

We work with many clients who have never hired a designer before. So there are understandably lots of questions in the beginning.

Our hope is that we can take the mystery out of it all. We’ll walk through the whole design process over the next few months; but today, we’ll cover the initial consultation.

Even if you don’t work with our team, we hope this serve as a tool for you to know what to expect in that first meeting.

At Crisp Interiors, our consultations are a “working consultation” rather than strictly a meet & greet. Our main goal for this meeting is to leave you with a TON of value- whether you decide to work with us or not.

So what really happens in this meeting?

Let's walk through it together:

First we listen.

What do you value most in a home?

How is the home working for your lifestyle?

What are your must-haves?

Lastly, one of our favorite questions to ask you is: “Why now?”

"Why did you call a designer at this stage?"

This question often gets to the heart of what is really important to you. We love knowing as much as we can about your “why” so that we can not only create beautiful designs; but also serve you well in the process.

Next, we’ll discuss your style. Bonus points if you have inspiration images (or Pinterest boards) of spaces that inspire you. This will give us a better idea of the style and the aesthetic you're hoping to achieve.

As we walk your home, we'll offer high-level, actionable direction for:

-Furniture Placement

-Paint colors

-Window Treatments

-Fabric Choices

-Renovation Ideas

Finally, as we wrap up, it’s your turn again: ask us all the questions you may have. We’ll also walk through our “New Client Guide” and explain a bit more about how our Design Process works.

Some clients find that this is all that they need to move forward on their own. They now have the direction and the confidence to DIY it.

Other clients choose to continue the project with us after this meeting. At that point, our ideas will move from high level to specific furnishings, floor plans, mood boards, & installation plans.

Either way, we want to leave you with readily accessible, valuable information that will get you one step closer to your dream home!
